Uncle Waders Catch A Gator
Big Bone Fossil Dig
It’ time to head out to the field and channel your inner Paleontologist! Our Big Gator Fossil Dig is a dig site where participants are challenged with the task of excavating the remains of Gators! No replica or plastic bones here, this is the real thing. Using field tools, Paleontologists will excavate, assemble and identify their findings to the field chief on duty. Genuine specimens are on display in the Field Station and visitors are encouraged to touch, photograph them. Participants will walk away with a souvenir to help them jump start their home collection.

The Hatching Festival is one of those uniquely Florida things I do with my kids every year. The staff is incredible and my kids absolutely love digging for fossils and catching baby gators. The best part, of course is the hatching. We get to watch a prehistoric ancestor come to life in our very hands, and that education is priceless.
